Daughters of Charity Health Centre in Masanga, Tanzania
In collaboration with Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach and the Daughters of Charity International Project Services, VLM has just successfully completed a project to ship a container of more than 1500 items with a value of over $250,000 to the health centre run by the Daughters of Charity in Masanga, Tanzania. This included hospital beds, incubators, stretchers and a huge amount of supplies and equipment that will enable the health centre to apply for hospital status, bringing much needed government financial support.
VLM funding for this project was thanks to annual Dancing Nights organised by Jane Scott, who has volunteered in Masanga for the past four years, and to parish collections taken up by VLM as part of the AMRI Mission Awareness Programme in the Diocese of Elphin throughout 2025. Sr Jacqueline Mbanga, one of the sisters serving in Masanga, said that the health centre staff have been filled with awe and joy and commented that when the container arrived it was so heavy that the crane was unable to lift it and they had to unload some equipment manually.
VLM are delighted to have partnered on this project and many thanks to everyone that supported it.
