VLM’s long term partners in Ethiopia are in urgent need of funding to help them respond to a grave humanitarian crisis which has arisen in areas where they are working. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced and are living in make shift camps in inhumane conditions.

Our partners are working tirelessly and in very difficult conditions to provide critical humanitarian support such as food, blankets and sanitary kits and medicine to thousands of people affected by this crisis. They are also providing pastoral care to many women who have suffered serious sexual violence.

The funds raised will go directly to our partners and will make an immediate and positive impact on the lives of those who are suffering through this crisis. Please be as generous as you can.

Thank you for your support.

Vincentian Lay Missionaries (VLM) is a not-for-profit volunteer sending organisation.

Our volunteers work in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Burkina Faso in partnership with the Daughters of Charity, the Vincentian Fathers, their staff and supporters. All of our partner projects strive to serve the poorest and most marginalised people in their communities. Our volunteers play an important part in that.

Since 2006 VLM has sent volunteers from Ireland to work in education and community-based projects in Africa. Volunteers of all ages and from various backgrounds have shared skills, lent support and simply spent time with individuals experiencing poverty in some of the most challenging environments in the world.

Our motto is “do one thing, do something” and our mission statement is:

To form and facilitate our members to immerse themselves in the experience and culture of the Vincentian mission overseas, so that reflecting on the learned experience, they will, on their return, effect change and transformation both locally and globally.
