Retired people

Are you retired and looking for a meaningful way to give back? Since 2002, VLM has been placing retired volunteers to our partner projects. We acknowledge that those who are retired or semi-retired are in a unique position to volunteer. Volunteering in retirement offers an enriching opportunity for individuals to make a lasting impact through education and community service, and community engagement. There are a wide range of backgrounds, fields, skills and life experiences which are invaluable in helping us address issues of poverty and inequality.

Volunteer role

This is what you can expect as a volunteer:

Am I too old to Volunteer?

Of course not! VLM’s oldest volunteer is aged 84 and has been volunteered on several occasions since her retirement. VLM strongly encourages retired volunteering, where your contributions and life experience will be greatly appreciated. In many of the cultures where VLM projects are located, advice from older individuals is received even greater.

VLM understands that individuals will have additional needs or requirement which will need to be met. We strive to find a project that matches your skill set, passions, and needs.

Why Volunteer now?

This is a chance to remain connected to a global community, share your life experience, and to help VLM create a lasting impact in marginalised communities. The work you do will not only benefit the communities you support, but will also enrich your own life as you continue to grow and make a difference in the world.
