In 2011, VLM was involved in making a successful application to Misean Cara for €93,000 to help open a deaf school in Ambo. The Ambo Lazarist Deaf School opened in 2012, giving deaf children in the area the opportunity to achieve their full potential in education through sign language. The Ethiopia Deaf Project (EDP) committee of VLM have been instrumental in fundraising the running costs of the school every year and VLM supporters including Castleknock College and its Union have also tirelessly worked to fundraise for the deaf school and its future development. We would love even more children to be able to attend the deaf school, which is run by the Vincentian Fathers in Ambo. For €21 per month or €252 per year, you can give a child who is deaf a life-changing gift of a quality education.
